The development known as "Mediterra" contains a total of approximately 1,689 acres.

The portion of the development known as the Mediterra North Community Development District is a local, special-purpose government entity authorized by Chapter 190 of the Florida Statues, as amended, by Ordinance No. 01-04 of the City of Bonita Springs, Florida and enacted on February 21, 2011 effective on March 23, 2011. The lands governed by "Mediterra North" encompass approximately 521 acres located entirely within the jurisdictional boundaries of the City of Bonita Springs, Florida, Lee County.

The portion of the development known as the Mediterra South Community Development District is a local, special-purpose government entity authorized by Chapter 190 of the Florida Statues, as amended, by Ordinance No. 99-67 of the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida effective on September 14, 1999, as amended and supplemented. The lands governed by "Mediterra South" encompass approximately 1,154 acres located in Collier County, Florida.
